Prophetic Word in August 2003

We had a recent event at our church. I was an observer this year but was a participant last year. I don't think I ever put out the result of the event last year along with some stuff that happened in Casper in May 2003 along with commentary.

My comments are in bold. The prophets are in plain text.

This is the transcript (with commentary) of what was spoken over my life in the past few months at two different events. This first is a transcript of what was said in May in Casper. The second one is the word in August in Chapel Hill.

These utterances were part of what many churches would call a “prophetic presbytery” What this means is that the church invites fellow believers that have demonstrated that they operate in the gift of prophecy. Most Christian denominations that most of you have heard of (Catholics and “mainline” Protestant churches such as Methodist, Baptist, Presbyterians etc). Do not recognize or at least don’t move in this gift. Still, I believe it is clear in Scripture that it is a gift meant for the church and meant for the church today. Mostly, the churches that recognize this fit in the category of “Charismatic” or “Pentecostal.” The basic difference between these categories and most other Christian denominations is a much greater level of faith toward and commitment to seeing God move supernaturally. This includes miraculous physical healings, and other miracles and also includes the belief that some Christians have the particular ability to hear God and transmit this to the rest of the church.

Prophecy is a “gift” meaning the believer does not “earn” it by going to school or being trained. However, the most trustworthy ones do spend much time developing their gift. Prophecy is also one of the”five fold” ministries. That is, it is one of the 5 ingredients that many churches believe are needed for a properly functioning church body. The other four are apostle, pastor, teacher and evangelist. The apostle (a leadership gift) and the prophet are the two of the five responsible for laying the foundation of the church.

So, when a prophetic presbytery happens it is always a VERY big deal in a church. There is a tremendous release of God’s power as He reveals and/or confirms things that He is doing in people’s lives. My situation is a good example, as I have related, I was pretty much in a holding pattern concerning marriage. Then, God spoke into the situation in May and in a very big way in August. As you might guess, I am pretty focused on preparing my mind, will, emotions etc for marriage.

In a well designed presbytery, there will be at least two, preferably three prophets, this gives the prophets a chance to work off each other and check each other for accuracy. In Wyoming, there were three but only two chose to speak over me. The third, Clem Ferris, a member of my church apparently had nothing to add in Wyoming. He did not add much in Chapel Hill either but his comments were easily the most entertaining.

A presbytery often consists of folks chosen ahead of time to receive ministry. The folks chosen are selected based on whatever the church leadership sees God doing in their church. Also, most presbyteries allow the prophets a small amount of time to speak prophecy over folks that are at the event but have not been selected for ministry. Obviously, I was not on the list for ministry in Casper but was one called out of the crowd. In Chapel Hill, I was pre-selected.

Just to describe the scene. There are numerous folks in the sanctuary just wanting to witness what God is doing. In my case this happened on a Thursday evening. The whole presbytery ran Thursday to Sunday. I am on a “stage” sitting in a chair. The prophets are standing over me with their hands on me ( a biblically sound act. God speaks and moves through the laying on of hands). I have my eyes closed and my head down. This is not required but most people do something similar, though some receive with their eyes open. For me, eyes closed helps me focus.

That is all by way of introduction just to give some context to it all. There will be comments throughout to fill in a bit about what is going on during the word. Again, what you read is a word for word translation of what was said. I took the audio tape and simply kept re-winding and typing.

The text may seem a bit rambling. Remember these guys are hearing God but it is just flowing. Sometimes the mouth and brain can not quite keep up with what God is doing.

Paul, I just here the Lord saying, you know, you never did have a chance Just like the Apostle Paul, He called you. He knew. Even when you were in that area of breathing out violence and totally opposed to the Kingdom of God. You know, He already knew you. He destined you. He named you. He was going to bring you forth. He was going to bring you forth and extract gold out of your life. Because He knew it was resident in your heart and He knew what he had invested in you

up until now Greg has not said anything that could not properly be said over nearly any believer. Still, the timing was God. It was an encouragement to me.


and even now He has placed you in an arena of training so that He might draw forth that which is precious. He might draw forth that which is gold.

And you are kind of an historian, you are a statistician. You love the facts and you love the history and you love all the intricacies and the details. The mind thing is real relevant to you. That just focuses in on you very deeply and strongly

Greg barely knows me and could not have gleaned this from the little we had talked but as my family you know He is speaking truth. A prophecy will often start this way just so that God can show the one being ministered to that He knows the person intimately and the prophet is hearing God.

and yet I see God bringing you into new levels of faith. Because there is a deep residence within you a heart of faith that says, Man, I want to be a part of it. I want to experience it. I want to just know it. I don’t just write the history about it and write the statistics and memorize it all but I want to be a part just actually out doing it.

This has been a heart cry for me for some time, again something Greg could not have known through normal interaction.

And the Lord is hearing your heart’s cry and he has placed you under that tutorialship and then He is going to release you and give you the desires of your heart and even in those arena’s where you did not think you could. You thought maybe you would just be the historian of the group and you go ahead and write down the artifacts and write it all down

But there is a breath in you that is longing for the new. There is a breath in you that wants to embrace the new. And the Lord says I see you heart to embrace the new and I am not just going to let you write about history I am going to let you make history. I am going to let you be a part of My history, My story.

And there will be others going “Do you see what Paul did?” And you will give the glory to the Lord. Did you see what Paul did. He was up there doing that. He was a part of that. He was not just documentation. But he was moved from documentation to demonstration. But don’t despise right now, documentation for He is renewing your mind.

And He is helping you to document. You are extremely observant. You are almost like an ornithologist. You watching every little intricate detail. You are just out there and early in the morning you are watching things. You are up and like an ornithologist would watch the birds and would be there to see the little birds running around and all the little intricacies and you are out before anybody else.

This is metaphor but not literal, I am not a bird watcher but he has properly identified a truth that God has gifted me in observing things and God showing me what is going on.

God’s put within you a servant’s heart, a servant’s heart. You want to rise early. You want to be a part. You are willing to do anything. You are willing to go out there and just observe the intricacies and see it all. You don’t really have to be a part . You are willing to just look and just aid and be whatever assistance you can possibly be. And yet, right now God is saying I have got you in that observatory in that observation stage but know that I am going to be bringing you out of observation into demonstration says the Lord. Into, demonstration says the Lord.

Greg moves into more like praying over my life rather than prophecy at this point.

Father, fan the flames of the hunger of this man. It is not a coincidence that you were named what you were named. May the anointing of God rest mightily upon you. And you know what He is not going to take that history side from you because you are still going to be a documenter but you are going to be a part of it an integral part, documentation, demonstration. Father bless him in Jesus name, bless him.

Paul, something real quick. This thing about ornithology, I saw you with a pair of binoculars. Brother you got long range binoculars too, 40 powers, you know. But I hear the Lord say that when it comes to your spiritual mate, the woman, there is a woman that God wants to put in your life for fulfillment. You were not built to be alone.

There it is baby! As you might imagine this really effected me when Steve said this. God is in charge of exactly how that was said. I am not built to be alone. I have been functioning in a manner not ideally suited to my design. This means God will release a great deal into my life when He puts me in the position suited for my design. Praise God. This is not to say God has done something wrong before now because His timing is perfect. Still, it is good to know I was built for something else.


I really feel like the Lord is going to put a whole other season into your life. But I hear the Lord say you are going to have to be willing to take the binoculars down. She is a lot closer than you think. All right? You keep looking out there for her and if you will just stop looking for all the intricate details of the feathers put them down and just say ok God whatever species you want to bring by me. You might just find that they are sitting outside your window already looking at you. So, just a word of wisdom for you. Don’t over qualify and be willing to look a little closer to home base you might find out there is something there that God is going to grace you with, bless you with, enlarge you with.

God even goes on to give me some direction concerning where this lady is. This helped eliminate much wondering about how this might happen. Though it needs some interpretation, I took this to mean that my wife is most likely part of Grace Church-Chapel Hill. This is rather amusing since I have obviously gone there for some time and other than the woman I dated when I first moved her nearly ten years ago, I have not had a strong desire to pursue anyone in the church. I guess that is likely to change soon.

I also felt for you too I am going to share that thing about co-laboring. I felt like God was going to put around somebody to be put maybe in a smaller environment where you can help build something with someone. I felt maybe there is even a smaller church, maybe a church plant situation that might evolve and develop and that you are to volunteer for it and say here I am. You are going to be a man of information. You are going to be a man… You are going to give a lot of details but at the same time, the Lord is going to let you feel like: “I am building something with somebody.” Rather than I am watching everyone else build but you are going to feel like “hey I have got the trowel in my hand now and I can help build this thing too. So, the Lord is going to give you a sense of fulfillment in that dimension. You might not be the lead but you are going to feel a part of the team in a much greater capacity. Amen.

This is referring to my ministry call which remains mysterious but God is beginning to flesh it out. I did participate in a church plant for some months a year or so ago and would like to do it again. So, again God is seeing me but also showing me what he has for me in the future.


What follows is the transcript of the August event. PAUL JOBE
With all my heart I hear Isaiah 12 for you Paul:

Paul then reads this Scripture over my life. This feeds my soul. You can see this theme repeated of really walking in the certain knowledge of being forgiven and accepted by God. This is what Greg started out with also Frankly, I thought I was pretty clear on this point but I now see that God wants me to understand this truth more fully. Here is Isaiah 12 which Paul read word for word (out of the New Living Translation).

1In that day you will sing:

"Praise the LORD!
He was angry with me,
but now he comforts me.
2
See, God has come to save me.
I will trust in him and not be afraid.
The LORD GOD is my strength and my song;
he has become my salvation."
3With joy you will drink deeply from the fountain of salvation! 4In that wonderful day you will sing:

"Thank the LORD!
Praise his name!
Tell the world what he has done.
Oh, how mighty he is!
5
Sing to the LORD,
for he has done wonderful things.
Make known his praise around the world.
6
Let all the people of Jerusalem[1] shout his praise with joy!
For great is the Holy One of Israel who lives among you."

And the Lord says to you Paul that the thing that you believed for me to do I am about to do. And you felt so successful in those other areas of life that you said Lord I can do this I can do that, this is working, this area is working, but this one area has really got me down. The Lord says I am beginning to work in that area and seeds sown in years past the Lord says as you mentored those other men you were sowing into my Kingdom, as you gave financially you were sowing into my Kingdom and you are going to receive a harvest of righteousness for the Lord says it is not too late for you.

It is at this point that I realize that Paul is probably talking about marriage.

The Lord says that hope will not disappoint. The Lord says I have got a plan, I have got a purpose, I have fulfillment, the Lord says that the hair is not going to go grey and fall out before that thing that you have been believing for comes to pass.

You will see that all three prophets mention some timing of the marriage, With each being more specific than the last

The Lord says grace is upon you and the Lord says the right one is in the future. The Lord says there is great favor that you are going to have. It is not going to be hard. You are not going to have to clamor, you are not going to have to search and look and fill out things in the paper.

A theme repeated from the May word, she is close to home and not someone I need to hunt down. Also, pretty much, I am not going to need to talk her into this. She will be favorable toward me from the beginning. It sounds silly, I mean am I going to marry someone who does not like me? But think about a lot of people get married after, at first, not liking each other much. This will not be the case with me.

The Lord says you tried all those things and they were not of me and you knew they weren’t. (True, a deserved rebuke) The Lord says there is great grace that is upon you. And the Lord says there will be like linking of calling and like minds and like heart in purpose for service within my Kingdom.

Brought out clearly more than once, whoever I marry will share in my ministry. Again, a key point that will help me sort through who God is bringing for me. (I have folks trying to set me up all of the sudden) Just to be clear, when I say ministry I do not necessarily mean, in fact, probably do not mean a full time occupation but rather the activity that God calls me into in, around and through my life as a businessman, husband (by faith), father (by even more faith) etc.

For Lord says son I am well pleased. The Lord says those you have mentored even 12 years ago, I see one particular man, The Lord says that man is continuing to grow and advance and flourish within my Kingdom because of what you did for him. The Lord says the doctrinal teaching, the discipleship, the Lord says it was not in vain for there were times where you were about to pull your hair out with that particular one. The Lord says he is a mighty man in my Kingdom. The Lord says it is to your credit. For if you look back then the Lord says you would have been in Hebrews 11 for you looked for something that was left unfulfilled in their life but the Lord says there is fulfillment and there is grace and the Lord says favor.

I am not clear on who this is but still it is great to know that God was using me even when I barely knew up from down.

And the Lord says do not to worry about the future and what job, should I stick in this career, stick it out and make it work. The Lord says there is flexibility within your heart and your spirit And you said, Lord I will do anything that you want me to do. And the Lord says that just as Jeremiah and Isaiah saw the potter and the clay the Lord says you are like putty within my hands Paul for you are malleable and moldable and you are just like the water I can move you any way that I want to. So the Lord says it is to your credit the Lord says there is flexibility that is going to result in fulfillment.

This feeds my soul that what I am doing work wise is from God. I have a series of these small deals that have definitely left me flexible. I have desired to get a full time job with the commensurate full-time pay. However, this is not what God has in mind. I believe I am seeing this fullfilled. My availability at this point may lead to significant blessing if some things in the hopper now actually come true.


And the Lord says don’t feel like you can not speak into that very issue that you have been believing me for in the lives of other men just because you do not have it yet. The Lord says you can. For I have given insight. Insight and word of wisdom is resident within you. There is great insight that you have into the human heart

This is the ornithology theme being repeated. God gives me wisdom that by natural processes I should not have.

and the Lord says that is that gift of discernment of Spirits that I put within you that you are around them and in five minutes or less and you got, you can write down the list. The Lord says that is not a critical spirit the Lord says that is a gifting that I have given you. The Lord says that you have used it wisely and used it well and I am well pleased.

Discernment of Spirits is a specific and particular gift that I did not know I had so that was cool.

The Lord says hope for the future believe for me to do that which Satan said would never come to pass says the Lord.

Amen that was good, good word you should relate to that.

I felt the word for you was Morpheus.

Dude from the Matrix on the fairly unlikely chance you did not already know that. Prophets can be inspired by weird things sometimes. This was kind of cool because I had actually watched Matrix II with Steve in Wyoming. BTW how bad did Matrix II suck?! Oh my gosh, it was AWFUL.

You are, this whole thing about the ability to embrace different environments being able to thrive in different environments to be able to morph into whatever is necessary.

I hear the Lord say son you are going to be like, just like that movie Morpheus had the ability to help open other people’s eyes. The Lord says son I am going to give you the ability to open people’s eyes. There is, the prophetic dimension in your life also apostolic rather than narrowing it down to one we will just call it the apostolic-prophetic dimension in your life is now going to begin to grow.

As Paul said first of all he had his eyes open and then he said I came to open the eyes of the Gentiles. And the Lord said son I am going to let you be an eye opener. You are going to have an eye opening ministry the Lord says like Paul did unto the Gentiles and the Lord says son you are going to touch the religious folks but the Lord says you are going to find out that some of them just love to keep their eyes closed and you can pry until you cry but the Lord says you will not get them to open their eyes and probably won’t even until the day they die

The Lord says I am going to send you to the lost. The Lord says I am going to send you to individuals and situations the Lord says that will stretch even the concept of what church is but understanding what the Kingdom is. And the Lord says I am going to put within you Kingdom principals, Kingdom vision, Kingdom understanding, and the Lord says you are going to be a man the Lord says who goes and opens the eyes of the blind unto the Gospel of the Kingdom not the Gospel of the church, not the Gospel of religion but the Gospel of the Kingdom of God and so the Lord says that is why I have let you put your hand over here and you have been volunteering over here and the Lord said I let you morph into all different kinds environments but the Lord said in the days ahead the Lord says I am going to throw you out into some many diverse fields of endeavor. And the Lord says you are going to contact and make contact with certain in days ahead the Lord says you are going to come to open the eyes that they may see and perceive the Kingdom of God is at hand says the Lord.

So like the apostle Paul the Lord says you are getting prepared for a sending mission and the Lord says you going to go, you are going to be sent here and sent here and sent here and sent here and the Lord says that while others can say well I have been sent to this nation, to this culture, to this people, the Lord says son I have got short –term missions projects for you and the Lord says you are going to be a sent one into this business, a sent one into this one’s home, a sent one into that one’s situation, a sent one into this one’s marriage, and the Lord says son don’t put any limitations on what you think it means to be sent for I am going to send you in many capacities, many arenas, many areas, and the Lord says you going to come to open the eyes of the blind so that they can see the reality of the Kingdom of God.

The last few paragraphs are a lot to take in. I am still working on it and he is talking about my life. So, if you have no idea what he is talking about don’t feel bad.


And the Lord says son, the Lord says again the Lord says, the Lord says I am bringing internal adjustments and changes in you right now says God. And the Lord says, the Lord says I appreciate you grabbing a hold of the altar and you said God I am not letting go until I change into everything you want me to be and the Lord said I appreciate the Lord said you are getting your seed bed ready the Lord said for more seed for the Lord said I am going to put the Lord says now within you a greater grace. And I am going to put that woman into your life and I am going to put you in a position says God the Lord says you are coming into proper alignment here and brother you are about to

There is a rather pregnant and telling pause here. Steve seemed ready to say more than he does but apparently thought better of it.

I uh, she is coming down the road all right?

Again, (perhaps wishful) interpretation but I believe God is pointing to a very short time frame here.

I mean I think I gave you a word something like that in Wyoming didn’t I? Yeah, and what you did though is rather than looking for the externals I hear you say God I need to change inside and the Lord said that is what is qualifying you for me to send her for the Lord says if you will keep working on the inside, the Lord said you are going to see her on the outside. And so the Lord says I appreciate you. You have said God I am making some commitments to make some internal adjustments and changes and the Lord says son the Lord says that’s what’s qualifying you for Me to be able to hook you up.

This has been precisely my approach. Since I got back from Wyoming (believe it or not). It has not even occurred to me to try to date someone. I have been about seeking God about how this works.


I am putting you, I am going to put a Priscilla next to you says God and you are going to know what it is to have a co-laboring ministry to open the eyes of the blind and show people the more excellent way in the days ahead says God.

Re-emphasizing the point that she will work along side me in Kingdom things. Priscilla and Aquilla are mentioned a handful of times in the New Testament. They were a very influential couple in the early church.

And son the Lord says don’t be surprised if a holy hatred and stench for religion begins to stir inside of you so the Lord says son the Lord says you are not going to be playing church. The Lord says I am going to make you a Kingdom man in the days ahead says the Lord. And the Lord says you are going to ruffle some people’s feathers but the Lord says its all right. The Lord says they not only need to ruffled they need to be plucked. For the Lord said I am going to make, the Lord says a man that absolutely has the ability to challenge people’s mindsets and traditions and doctrines of men. Even the most free are going to find out they were in bondage rather than liberty the Lord says when they are done with a visitation from you. For the Lord said I am going to make you a man they want to stick to for when they get around you the Lord says they are going to say that guy has brought light and he has brought understanding he has opened the eyes of my understanding that I may know the hope of my calling. And that is what I called you to, to set the captives free out of religion and bondage to bring them to divine liberty.

This last bit is very cool. It fits me. It speaks to me. My focus is the Kingdom of God not church or religion.

It is mating season.

This is said with great emphasis and a bit of drama. Clem sort of pushes down on my head. I remember being a bit self-conscious at this point. I more clearly remember a great deal of laughter, wooping, and people calling out etc. Many have commented to me since that this was the single most memorable thing during the presbytery. Trust me, a really large number of really amazing and unforgettable things are said in the average presbytery. So this was a pretty dramatic moment. Also, Clem, to my way of thinking is narrowing the time down.

So get ready, flap your wings migrate to the warmer climates, amen.

It’s mating season.

Again, done with a bit of show and yet more laughter and catcalls.

Brother you have made it through the storms. Brother in the storms of relational difficulty you lashed yourself to the sail mast and you would not let go.

And the Lord says calm seas ahead, cool breezes, warm sunshine. Mating season has come. The Lord says enter into the rest of the Lord and He will do the rest for you in Jesus name Amen. Praise God! Yeah!

So I got that going for me.
